The scene based on the book by A.A. Milne.
Characters: Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Butterflies, Trees.
Narrator № 1(The butterfly № 1): Eeyore, the old grey donkey, is standing near the pond and looking at himself in the water.
Eeyore: Pathetic. No better from this side. (Pooh comes out).
Winnie-the-Pooh: Good morning, Eeyore.
Eeyore (gloomily): Good morning, Pooh Bear. If it is a good morning.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Why, what’s the matter?
Eeyore: Nothing, Pooh Bear, nothing.
Winnie-the-Pooh: You are sad, Eeyore.
Eeyore: Sad? I’m not sad. It’s my birthday. The happiest day of the year.
Winnie-the-Pooh (In great surprise): Your birthday?
Eeyore: Yes. Can’t you see? Look at all the presents I have got. (He waves his leg from side to side.) Look at the birthday cake and candles.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Presents? Birthday cake?
Eeyore: Can’t you see them?
Eeyore: It is a joke. Ha-ha!
Winnie-the-Pooh: Many happy returns of the day, Eeyore. (He feels sorry for Eeyore.)
Eeyore: I am so miserable with no presents and no cake and no candles….
Winnie-the-Pooh: Stay there! (And he hurries back as quickly as he can. He meets Piglet.)
Narrator № 2 (The butterfly № 2): And Winnie-the-Pooh runs home as quick as he can. Outside his house he finds Piglet.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Hello, Piglet!
Piglet: Hello, Pooh.
Winnie -the-Pooh: Poor Eeyore is very sad because it’s his birthday, but nobody knows, and he’s very gloomy. We must give him a present!
(Two trees are making Pooh’s house. They are holding a jar of honey. Winnie is looking for it and finds finally)
Winnie-the-Pooh (to Piglet): I am giving this to Eeyore as a present. (He is showing a jar of honey to Piglet). What are you going to give him, Piglet?
Piglet: Can’t I give it too? From both of us?
Winnie-the-Pooh: No. That’s not a good idea.
Piglet: Ok, then, I will give him a balloon. I will go and get it now.
Winnie-the-Pooh: That’s a very good idea, Piglet. (Piglet goes away and Pooh goes in the other direction)
Narrator № 3 (The tree № 1): So Piglet goes away. Winnie-the-Pooh goes away too with his jar of honey. It is a warm day and Pooh have got a long way.
Narrator № 4 (The tree № 2): Suddenly he has got a funny feeling as somebody saying “Now Pooh it’s time for little something”.
Winnie-the-Pooh (to himself): What luck that I bring this jar of honey with me. (He sits down, takes the top off his jar and begins to eat).
Narrator № 5 (The butterfly № 3): So he sits down, takes the top off his jar and begins to eat. All the characters are standing around Winnie and signing the song.
A tubby, little cubby all stuffed with fluff.
He's Winnie-the-Pooh Winnie-the-Pooh,
A willy, nilly, silly old bear.
Winnie-the-Pooh (to himself): Let me see… Where am I going? Ah, yes, Eeyore (He gets up slowly). Oh my God! There is no honey in it! I must give Eeyore something. Well, it’s a very nice pot. I will wash it and clean, and ask owl to write “A Happy Birthday” on it. Eeyore can keep things in it.
Narrator № 6 (The butterfly № 4): And Winnie goes to Owl’s house.
(The door is opening)
Winnie-the-Pooh: Good morning, Owl.
Owl: Good morning, Pooh!
Winnie-the-Pooh: Eeyore has got a birthday. I’m giving him a useful pot to keep things in, and I want to ask you…
Owl: Is this it? (Takes it out of Pooh’s paws.)
Winnie-the-Pooh: Yes, and I want to ask you…
Owl: Somebody kept honey in it.
Winnie-the-Pooh: You can keep anything in it. It’s very useful.
Owl: Oh, it’s a nice pot. Can I give it too? From both of us?
Winnie-the-Pooh: No, that is not a good plan.
Owl: Ok…You must write “A Happy Birthday” on it.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Can you write “A Happy Birthday” on it, please?
Owl: Ok, I will write it. (Owl takes a brush and starts to write). НА-PPY BIRTH-DAY.
(This is what Owl wrote: HIPY PAPY BTHUTHDTH THUTHDA BTHUTHDY)
Owl: It says, “A very happy birthday with love from Pooh.”
Winnie-the-Pooh: Oh, it’s nice, thank you.
( Bang!!!) (Piglet is coming with a small piece of damp rag)
Piglet: Oh, dear, oh, dear! My balloon!! It’s too late now. I can’t go back, and I have not got another balloon. (Winnie, Owl are coming up to Piglet)
Winnie-the-Pooh: Don’t worry, Piglet. Let’s go to Eeyore.
(All characters are standing around Eeyore, who is in the middle.)
Piglet: Good morning, Eeyore.
Eeyore: Good morning, little Piglet.
Piglet: Many happy returns of the day.
Eeyore: My birthday?
Piglet: Yes, Eeyore, and I have got a present for you. It’s a balloon.
Eeyore: Balloon? Did you say balloon?
Piglet: Yes, but I’m very sorry, Eeyore – I fell down. I…..I…..Oh, Eeyore! The balloon burst when I fall! (There is a very long silence)
Eeyore: My balloon? My birthday balloon?
Piglet: Yes, Eeyore, Many happy returns of the day. (Piglet is giving Eeyore the small piece of damp rag).
Eeyore: Is this it?
Piglet: Uhu.. (Nodded)
Eeyore: My present?
Piglet: Uhu.. (Nodded)
Eeyore: My balloon?
Piglet: Yes.. (Nodded)
Eeyore: Thank you, Piglet. But what colour was this balloon?
Eeyore: Red……………….. My favourite colour. ... How big was it?
Piglet: As big as me.
Eeyore (Sadly) As big as Piglet. My favourite size. Well, well.
Winnie-the-Pooh (Excitedly) : "Many happy returns of the day "I have got a little present for you!
Eeyore: I have got one..
Winnie-the-Pooh: It's a Useful Pot. And it has got “A Very Happy Birthday with love from Pooh”!
(When Eeyore saw the pot, he became quite excited)
Eeyore: I think my balloon will just go into that Pot!
Winnie-the-Pooh: Oh, no, Eeyore. Balloons are much too big to go into pots.
Eeyore: Not mine (proudly) Look, Piglet! (And as Piglet looked sorrowfully round, Eeyore picked the balloon up, and placed it carefully in the pot; picked it out and then picked it up again and put it carefully back)
Winnie-the-Pooh: So it does! It goes in!
Piglet: So it does! And it comes out!
Winnie-the-Pooh: I’m very glad! (happily)
Piglet: And I’m very glad! (happily)
Owl: I’m very glad, too! (happily)
Narrator № 7 (Butterfly № 6): (Recites the birthday poem for Eeyore)
